Hey, are there any other Mudcatters on JamPlay? It's a great guitar learning website and I'm now one of the staff instructors. They've got 25 teachers in all different styles and all different levels (everything from heavy metal to jazz to celtic, blues, and bluegrass). I'm recording a beginning series right now, and I'm leading two live webchats every week.

I keep expecting to run into people from Mudcat there, because it seems to be a very popular site, but as far as I know I haven't come across any others (unless you are holding out on me!).

Anyway, I have a code for anyone who wants to try out a 7-day free trial. I could post it here if there is interest.

It sounds great, but I don't play guitar. Any other instruments?

Thanks,

kat

Hi all,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I posted this thread and then it sank without a trace and I figured noone was interested. And then I haven't been on Mudcat so much recently.

So, if you want to try out JamPlay for free for 7 days, go to:

http://www.jamplay.com/card/

and enter the following code: 5E98941F20

And Kat, unfortunately for you, the site is completely devoted to the guitar -- no other instruments. I guess they figure they should stick to one focus. I assume there are other sites like it for other instruments, though. I bet if you searched around you could find some.

P.S. If you do try it out, make sure you send me a message on the site so I know who you are!

The content is good and the lessons and back up material are good. I'm a member of Acoustic Guitar magazine online (which I always mean to look at and never get round to) and they seem similar in the way they are presented and put together. The lessons are clear and the different camera angles etc and supplemental info should make it easy to learn.

Anyway back to learning The Claw by Jerry Reed which looks fun. :)

Thanks for the opportunity to have a look, Eve - I probably won't join only because I have a limited amount of time at present and have the complete back set of lessons from the Acoutic Guitar site I joined and have yet to look at!

One observation.

My Acoustic Guitar Maagazine online costs me $12.95 a year which I do think is astounding value for money given as there is some crossover between some of the instructors on both. Whether the two sites are a similar size or offer similar things I haven't looked that closely but I probably have a while until I've exhausted my current one.

Glad to hear you checked it out, Nick. I'm not familiar with what Acoustic Guitar magazine offers, so I can't comment on how it compares. I'm not surprised there's some overlap.
