Subject: Looking to sell or trade a guitar

I have an Ovation Celebrity Deluxe guitar with hard-shell case. It was a gift from a friend at a time when I didn't have a single instrument left to play (bad finances caused a fire sale and I lost all my gear).

It's a really nice guitar, plays great and sounds good. The problem is, I just don't care for the tone of an Ovation for the kind of music I play.

I am a large man with a big, loud baritone voice. The Ovation just doesn't have enough bass response to create a warm-enough tone to compliment my voice.

Again, it's not that it's a bad-sounding guitar, nor is there anything structurally or electronically wrong with it at all... it's just not my cup of tea.

I'm interested in trading for an Ibanez Artwood or something similar, preferably with Fishman electronics (or something comparable). Yamaha, Fender and others make guitars in the $300-400 range new that sell for $250 or so used. I'd be interested in a one-for-one trade in that case.

Any takers? I live in central New Jersey in the USA, postal code 08882 if you need to calculate shipping. I will deliver the guitar in person for the right deal within a reasonable distance.

Thanks, 'Catters!

I am not an Ovation fan at all. Interestingly the photo of me in the Mudcat photo file shows me playing a celebrity Deluxe. I don't care for Ovations but the trade your are talking about is a down grade to what you have.

I'd look at a better quality Takamine were I you. Seamus Kennedy has a Tak I played recently that is a fine playing, fine sounding guitar with fine electronics. Fishman's I believe.

I dislike Ovations--had one in the late 1960s. Damn thing kept 'sliding' off my leg and I always felt I was slouching downwards to keep up with the rate at which the guitar was slipping. I got rid of it--the guitar: I still have the slouch.

You know, Tim, a friend of mine has built a guitar that is specifically designed to address our common problem of rotundity. When I can remember my Mudcat User Name, I'll PM you and give you his info. Quite the ingenious idea he has.

Ovation? Good guitar for wilderness boat trips, as it can also serve as an emergency flotation device.

I had the same problem with my Adamas (Ovation).
Two convex surfaces are not conducive to comfortable playing! *G*
