I am thinking of buying a Guild GAD-25 all-mahogany dreadnaught ,and have listened to a few people playing one on You-tube,and read some reviews, mainly from the US,which seem to be mainly both enthusiastic and favourable : Any "Catters" out there able to comment ? Current price in England is £400 GBP,which seems pretty good to me for a Guild, albeit a Chinese-built one, complete with case ! Your help & advice would be much appreciated----Thanks !

I am in the process of buying a new Guild guitar. A GAD F 20e because of the short scale length. Unless 000 18 pops up for ridiculous money.

If I can find a very old F 20 or 30 with a short scale made in the US I'll buy that before the Martin any day.

If I buy a NEW guitar it will be the GAD Guild.

Don

I have an 1982 D-25... it started off great and got better over the years.. easy to play.. I use it mostly for recording now... you put a couple of Neumanns or Royers mics in front of it, and it's magic time...

I have an old D25 too - superb miked up. I use it for DADGAD. Only problem is - it's RED! Still, we forgive our loved ones their minor flaws.

That's good news ,Alex----I would want to tune mine similarly ( Double dropped D): I use D'Addario PB 12/56 ( EJ 17 ??) at the moment; do you think they'd be OK ? -- they're fine on my other guitars (Martin & Avalon).
Actually,a GAD-40 CE has now entered the frame (as a result of this thread posting--good old Mudcat !!)---any thoughts on those ??
( Looks & sounds good to me --I'm extremely tempted !).

I own 3 of the GAD series Guilds, and they are all fine guitars; all solid woods, wood bindings, scalloped bracing, and bone nut and saddle. You can't go wrong here.

Sandy
