I am looking for this tune. From the twenties I think. Pointers? I know it is at the outside of your focus but all else has failed so I turn to the Mudcat. Thanks for your patience.

I use to know this old song but unfortunately I no longer know the lyrics. Have you searched Barber Shop Quartet websites? I used to sing it with a Barber Shop Quartet back in the early 1950s. It begins, "Oh, goddbye my coney Island baby, farewell my own true love! But that's all I can remember.

I'm not sure if you're after just the words, or a sheet-music arrangement of this barbershop quartet/small sinigng group classic. But CASA (Contmeporary A Cappella Society of America) has a library and offers arrangements to members of the organization. The web page indicating available arrangements is at:

Gee, a song like this could get a guy into a lot of trouble...

GOODBYE MY CONEY ISLAND BABY
(Words and Music by Les Applegate)
© 1948, Mills Music, Inc.

We all fall for some girl that dresses neat,
Some girl that's got big feet.
We meet her on the street.
Then we'll join the army of married boobs,
To the altar,
Just like leading lambs to slaughter.
When it's over, oh boy we get it good;
Bachelor days we then recall,
Rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief,
Doctor, lawyer, merchant chief.
We all are bound for matrimony.

Goodbye My Coney Island Baby
Farewell, my own true love.
I'm gonna go away and leave you,
Never to see you anymore.
I'm goin' to sail upon that ferry boat,
Never to return again.
So goodbye, farewell, so long forever.
Goodbye my Coney Isle,
Goodbye my Coney Isle,
Goodbye my Coney Island babe.
