They have been running folk clubs in this area for many[is it 35] years, and are now involved in a Lewes Folk festival have the EFDSS considered awarding them a gold medal for their services to folk music?

I think it's over forty years. With Jim Marshall, Vic publishes the (Sussex) Folk Diary, which contributes a lot to the health of the local music scene. He writes for various folk music publications and also broadcasts on the subject for the seasonal station Rocket Radio. Vic & Tina play in a hard-working ceilidh band, The Sussex Pistols.

EFDSS are free to nominate anyone they feel is deserving of the Gold Badge (not gold medal). Why not join and nominate them, Dick?

Yeah, me too - my excitement at the prospect of two friends getting an EFDSS gong was matched only by my disappointment at discovering it hadn't happened.

It almost as bad as those threads that are titled with somebody's name and you approach with trepidation in case it turns out to be an obit...

But as Ruth says, any EFDSS member can nominate people for consideration.

as I have pointed out numeroustimesIlive inIRELAND I am a member of Comhaltas, and cannot afford two subscriptions,
I recently denoted some money to searchlight to help fight racism,I think that is amore urgent priority.
However as Folkie Dave says any member can nominate them,so why doesnt somebody who is a member, please do so.
that is why I put this thread up to get the ball rolling,ok.
another person who could be considered is Ron Angel,ex Teeside Fettler, songwriter, musican, organiser for many many years[until fairly recently] of Stockton Folk club.
