Olddude, glad you posted this link. Joni is indeed a wonderful singer, songwriter, and mighty good graphic artist to boot. She has been to Mountain View, Arkansas quite a few times over the years and has always given memorable concerts. Nice to see her recognized here.

She sent me a note on myspace saying she liked my music so much. Then I listen to her and say ... MY GOD HOW BEAUTIFUL... she is absolutely incredible and such a sweet person.

put me in mind of the original version which was a huge hit in the UK when I was still in primary (grade) school.

well, maybe it wasn't the "original" but it surely was the first time anybody in the UK had heard it...

Joni has been to Mountain View at other times, but her performances at the Christmas shows were always of the "don't miss" variety.

On our KFFB at the Ozark Folk Center radio show, we program Christmas music every Saturday from after Thanksgiving through Christmas. Joni's version of Silent Night in both English and Latvian is one of the treasures that gets played every year without fail.

I've never liked this song! Like Murray, I remember it from my school days. I think it's the repetive nature of the song that bothers me; however, Joni's version almost converted me!

Folks she has some great video on youtube.   Just type her name in. What is so amazing is she sounds the same as the recorded versions. Joni is the real deal in my books ... She has become one of my all time favourite singer and writer
