Ha anyone got any experience on the use of nylon fiddle strings rather than steel ones. someone suggested them to me but they're quite expensive and I don't know anyone who uses them. Thanks

Ithink they tend to be used by those who play jazz or classical as well as folk. They've a smoother sound. The A's deteriorate quickly, the covering comes loose. I didn't realise you could get steel strings for fiddle,(till I looked hard at my cheapie spares), I thought folkies played on gut.
