When looking for info on Jack and Margaret King, prompted by another thread, I discovered this interesting site.
Some illustrious names are listed, including Paul Simon, from his days over here in the early 60's.

Way to go John!

I work at the ERO the home of SEAX and the Essex Sound Archive.

Actually a mudcatter LanFranc who leads the Blacmore folk club booked Paul Simon. I think he was paid £20.00. But then that was way back in the day.

Let me tell you VT, that was a lot of money in those days. I booked Johhny Silvo for £15, Derek Brimstone for £10, Stefan Grossman for £15, and Jeremy Taylor for £15, all in 1968. By which time, I think Paul had gone back to the states. I remember seeing him fairly often in the early days of my involvement in south of England folk clubs.
Alan must be almost as old as me ;)
