            Tom & Barbara are fine singers firmly rooted in the musical traditions of the West Country, & also folklore experts. Tom plays concertina, melodeon, mandola & guitar. They are popular festival guests & run their own club in Coombe Martin.

Deeply immersed in both the theory & practice of balladry for over 40 years, Tom & Barbara bring a variety of perspectives to the performance of ballads - not to mention a whole load of rare reference books as well!

*You are invited to bring at least one traditional or modern ballad to sing & talk about.

To avoid clashes with other contributors, please state your preferred ballad in advance. If your choice has already been taken we will let you know so that you can choose another. If in doubt about what counts as a ballad, please use the contact email or phone to ask.

I was thinking just the opposite. It sounds like a way to spend a heavenly day, and if there were any way I could get there I would. I heard Tom and Barbara twice when I was in London and would jump at the chance to hear them again. That, combined with a chance to hear other ballad singers, contribute one of my own, and discuss the songs in detail would be wonderful. I think I'd come out of it refreshed and inspired....well to each his own!

An excellent day with some beautiful singing and fascinating information - we'd have needed days to go through all the wonderful rare reference books. Tom and Barbara had done their homework thoroughly on the songs selected and brought some interesting insights.

The day was followed by a lovely warm evening, again with some unusual songs and a delightful atmosphere.
