MegW, I completed your survey.

I'd like to share with you that it appeared to me that most of the survey questions presupposed that all Mudcat members are musicians.

Probably most Mudcat members are musicians, but not every member of this forum isn't a musician.

The survey is certainly music-related. I can't imagine why anybody would move it to the non-music section. I moved it back.

Thanks, Becky. This survey is not limited to members, it's open to all users of the site. It's just limited to the first 100 responses because of the structure of SurveyMonkey.com, the site I used to host the questionnaire.

I had thought Mudcat-centered topics were supposed to be posted as regular threads, I'm sorry if I misunderstood and it was supposed to be in BS.

Not sure why this was moved to B.S.; it wasn't originally, I personally think it belongs above the line.

For those who wonder about the survey, here's more from MegW about the research that she's doing for her Master's thesis in ethnomusicology at Tufts University.

There's nothing about the survey which limits it to Mudcat members, G.

You are severely limiting the spectrum of your population sample Meg

BEFORE you start research - you should go back and carefuly examine your thesis statement and background reading.

Hi everyone! Thanks to those of you who have contacted me in regards to my thesis, I really appreciate it. It's slow going but I'll get back to all of you, I promise!

In the meantime, I'm hoping to come up with some basic demographic information about the way people use and view Mudcat and the Digital Tradition Folksong Database. The survey is here. Unfortunately that website limits basic accounts to 100 responses, but it's better than nothing.

Special thanks to Cloud_Street, by the way, for introducing me to that site way back when he did his own survey!
