Subject: Obit: Bill Innes: Chester [UK] Folkie From: Mr Happy Date: 19 Oct 09 - 04:31 AM Our friend Bill Innes passed away some days ago. Unfortunately, as Mudcat's been down, I've not been able to post the news 'til now. The funeral is today, 2pm at Chester crematorium & then afterwards at the Westminster Hotel, City Rd, Chester. Bill was a stalwart of the Chester folk scene over many years from the 1970's until relatively recently when he began to suffer failing health. In his heyday, Bill was a most entertaining personality & all enjoyed his rumbustious renditions of a wide & singular repertoire, ranging from Lonnie Donegan stuff to Leonard Cohen, all accompanied by his strident & accomplished performance on his tenor banjo. He could also provide sensitive mandolin accompaniments to tunes, airs & songs, performed by others. Bill could always be relied upon to be the 'life & soul of the party' & always instilled much jollity & merriment into any session. Bill's daughter is organising today's farewell party for her dad, & has requested all folkies attending to bring instruments for the post funeral gathering to have a sesh to give her dad a traditional send-off! |

Subject: RE: Obit: Bill Innes: Chester [UK] Folkie From: Mr Happy Date: 23 Oct 09 - 06:34 AM He was probably there in spirit - poss out out body experience, hovering above the assembled throng & putting folks off their strokes by casting spells of amnesia & inebriation to ensure, as was traditional with Bill, that all had the best possible enjoyment of the occasion! |
