At Lewes Saturday Folk Club on Saturday 24th. October we have our annual Harvest Supper. The guest performers will be the excellent Capstan Full Strength , well known for their maritime songs and about to show that they can also tackle songs for the harvest season in glorious seven-voice harmony; they bring concertinas and a melodeon as well.

I make harvest loaves in the shape of wheat sheaves - well, to be honest they look rather like trolls' feet - and we also bring English cheeses, apples and butter to share at half-time.

Entrance is £5 (I got it wrong in the Folk Diary) and floor singers are welcome, particularly if they bring songs and tunes on the theme.

P.S. The English cheeses will be Cheddar, Stilton and Lord of the Hundreds (a superb sheep's cheese now made in Sussex).

Pound for pound, this night is very good value as there are seven people in Capstan Full Strength.
