I got an e-mail from a friend Jon Newton who owns the web site, http://www.p2pnet.net
And it looks like Jon and Billy Bragg have teamed up for a cool idea here is the story,
http://www.p2pnet.net/story/30000
We have always wondered if this idea gets around if more folks would find instruments that are not being used and get them in the hands of kids who could use them.
Would it not be cool if more folks would be doing this like my friend in Wisconsin, Rich Bamann who has The Million Closet Program http://www.baumannauctions.com/richbaumann/
Here is also Billy Bragg's new site as to what they are doing, http://www.jailguitardoors.org.uk/
Still Pickin'

There's a similar UK project here: Changing Tunes

They accept instrument and equipment donations - see the support page for contact details.

Thanks for the link Pete and here is hoping more folks give it a try and see if in their area they can do the same thing.

My niece recently put an ad in our local classified ad free paper saying that if anyone had an accordion gathering dust, they could give it to her and when she learned how to play it she'd play it for them. Now she has one of those "Lady of Spain" type boxes with trillions of buttons and has taken several lessons from our local Klezmer diva.

Good idea Bob and it's funny how serendipitous this kind of thing can be.
Down in La. we had a lot of fun as much as work as t has been at the same time it was a blast.
