Subject: Hope Not Hate Week. Musicians needed
From: Owen Woodson

I've just had an email from Hope Not Hate about a nationwide weekend of action, which they are organising for 7/8 November. The text of the email is below, and for more information go to http://action.hopenothate.org.uk/page/event/create

This seems to be very much a do whatever you can type of event. So I'm hoping there will be a few musicians, singers, dancers or whatever out there, who would be able to support/perform at whatever is happening in your area.

I'm just passing the message on, so please don't reply to me with suggestions. Your best bet would be to email nick@hopenothate.org.uk .

Weekend of Action - 7/8 November

Plans are moving apace for our Weekend of HOPE on 7-8 November, where we are encouraging as many activities as we can across the country. Whether it's targeting a key council ward for next year's local elections or holding a town/city centre stall, it will not only spread the message of HOPE but hopefully can be used to involve new activists who are angry at the BNP's presence on Question Time.

We are encouraging local anti-BNP groups to get involved and we are already off to a good start. Eleven events are planned in Yorkshire, nine across London and four in the North East so far.

We will supply leaflets, badges and other HnH material that might be useful for your activities. What we initially need from you, if your group would like to take part in the weekend, is for you to set up an event.

Our online tool enables you to input your event directly onto our system. You will even be alerted when someone signs up. Just go to http://action.hopenothate.org.uk/organisenow and follow the instructions.

If for any reason you are unable to input your details then please email me at nick@hopenothate.org.uk. I can either talk you through it or input the event for you as long as you give me all the necessary information.

If you are planning to set up an event, can I urge you to do so before 10pm on Wednesday. Our first national email advertising this weekend of HOPE will go out on Thursday afternoon so it is important we have as many events as possible in place before then. The next email will not go out for another week, so while we can still input events, we lose precious organising time. The HnH team will be ringing round as many of you as possible over the next 72 hours to discuss possible events with you.

Once you've set up an event we will send you a checklist containing some simple ideas for building it. In addition to building turnout for your event, we hope that this checklist will be helpful in growing your local activist base and spreading the workload.

One of the best ways to attract people to our events is to tell them what we are planning. We will shortly be setting up a facility for you to leave a video or voice message in which you can tell us what you are organising for the weekend. We will then circulate the best ideas around the Organiser network and put some short video clips in our second national email. We hope to customise these emails regionally so our HOPE not hate supporters will get a flavour of what is happening in their own region.

Of course, all this depends on you setting up events in your area. The first national email will go out on Thursday so please set up an event by 10pm Wednesday.

If you have any questions about our Weekend of Action or have problems accessing our event tool, please do not hesitate to contact me at nick@hopenothate.org.uk .
