Subject: Lyr Req: In My Socks, With a Gun From: Joe Offer Date: 30 Oct 09 - 09:37 PM OK, this is a thread that should have been started long, long ago. I searched all of Mudcat for "in my socks" and "in my sox," and I could not find the lyrics to this song. It is an absolute travesty that this song has not been posted here. Midchuck, who just celebrated his 68th birthday, will be forever known for this song - just as I suppose I will be forever known for songs I'd rather not be know for. So, how 'bout it, Midchuck? Now that you're older, can you post the lyrics for this song? Roger no longer from Baltimore did a wonderful performance of this song at the Getaway this month. Heck, there really ought to be a YouTube video of this song. -Joe- |
Subject: Lyr Add: BOXERS AND SOCKS (Peter and Kristina Cady From: Midchuck Date: 30 Oct 09 - 10:15 PM As usual with our travesties, I mean parodies, Kris had the concept and the first few lines, and I filled it in... Peter. BOXERS AND SOCKS Lyrics: Peter and Kristina Cady Tune: "Fox on the Run" Start with CHORUS: I stand on the stairs leading down to the cellar Wish I'd stood in bed, 'cause this ain't any fun. My wife heard a prowler, I'll prove I'm not yeller - I'm here in my boxers and socks with a gun (chime) In my socks / In my socks / In my socks / With a gun. 1. Everybody said that we had a lot of crime - Camps and trucks and houses get broke into all the time So I keep the Smith and Wesson by the bed here on a chair. And I know I've got some cartridges, just can't remember where. (CHORUS) 2. I'm being wicked careful, 'cause I wouldn't want to fall, And I nearly broke my ankle on that table in the hall. The wife says someone's down there, and a man has got his pride, But I've used up my machismo and I need a place to hide. (CHORUS) 3. I finally found the prowler, he was working on the door, Let him in and gave him cat food - he won't bother us no more. So there's no need to call the cops or testify in court, And I'm going back to bed, as soon as I can change my shorts. (FINAL CHORUS) |
