Give Sylviane my best wishes and good luck in being reunited with her 'tina - at least she's still got Shaun the Sheep, hopefully!

Sylviane used to call in to Lymm Folk Club fairly regularly when it was at The Railway - which is where I took the photo.

I'll keep an eye out round Sheffield. Thanks for the reminder, too - I must go and take photos of all my instruments, just in case!

Thank goodness for that Noreen - I was desperately trying to remember the little blighter's name as well. In the photos he looks quite perky sitting on the end ... but, as Ralphie said, he's probably not there any more. :-(

a search of sheffield pawnbrokers might be a good idea.
thanks for putting this up Ralphie.

I hadn't noticed the six sided bit ... wonder why I didn't notice - that's unusual isn't it (relative newbie, me) ???

Having had a closer shufti. It has 5 Fold bellows, Looks like Rosewood ends, Metal buttons with red bushes,(1 missing on the end photographed) and a tiny little sticker of that yellow canary from the Peanuts cartoon. Can't remember it's name. (Obviously that could have been removed).
It looks to be in excellemt condition for it's age.

Steve ... herewith the description provided by the owner on concertina.net

"However just in case someone sees or is offered a English Treble Wheastone (nu. 9199) Wooden ends green bellows with Unusual modified thumbstraps and previous owner engraved on top left, it could be my baby, lost/stolen in Sheffield a week ago. (and reported to the Police, of course)."

Will keep a lookout in the s-hand shops and on eBay. The serial number is easy enough to remember. I know we can go to facebook and look at a pic but when describing stolen instruments in places like this it's useful to give a more detailed description, rosewood/metal ends, metal/bone/plastic buttons, hexagonal/aeola/edeophone, green/black bellows etc.

LOST OR STOLEN 48 KEY WHEATSTONE ENGLISH CONCERTINA 17 OCTOBER.

Place. Sheffield Yorkshire UK.

48 key Wheatstone English
Serial Number 9199

Contacts
Sylviane 0775 7243960.
sylviane.bartowlak@ntlworld.com
Or Sheffield Police.

A lovely looking box. for pics go to the Facebook "Stolen Instruments" Group.
(I ought to know how to do a link at this point, but, I'm a computer numpty, Irene? anyone?!)

And while I'm on. Even if you good people don't do the other social networking sites as a rule. It's worth joining Facebook just for this group alone. It's not a chat room, just a place for anyone to post pictures of Lost/Stolen instruments, so the more people who join the better. (Oh and it's not just confined to instruments, anything musical, .... Have you had your van with all your PA nicked?...That sort of thing)

Talking of pictures. If it's a sunny day today, and you haven't already done it. Dust off your trusty digital camera, and take lots and lots of photos. Serial numbers, distinguishing features, even the PA and the van!!

Thanks for your attention, and let us hope that this lady is re-united with her tina soon.

Ralphie

PS...Still looking for my Maple Fylde 1974 vintage, Tommy Peoples would love to get his fiddle back, and Ed Rennie is still got one eye out for his Erica melodeon.!!!
