Subject: BS: Across Canada by Train From: artbrooks Date: 31 Oct 09 - 05:07 PM We are considering a trip across Canada (Vancouver to Halifax), and would appreciate some suggestions. Best time of year? Canrailpass or just tickets? Worth the extra $$ for a private compartment? Places to stop and see along the way? |

Read the write-up on Amazon. If you loved the silents, Buster still had it and the first time I saw this, I died laughing. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Across Canada by Train From: Desert Dancer Date: 31 Oct 09 - 06:15 PM Judging from a U.S. cross-country train trip a couple years ago -- if you're going overnight, especially more than one night, a sleeper is a necessity. Also, bring a book for the miles and miles and miles and miles of spruce across Ontario. It's a trip my folks always dreamed of... sounded good to me, too. (We ended up driving much of it a couple of times.) ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: BS: Across Canada by Train From: gnu Date: 31 Oct 09 - 06:19 PM Becky... good advice. But, perhaps, by using a map and the schedules, one might circumvent the "spruce" by taking a train over such areas at night? I AM an idea man. |

A musical journey that could not be beat! there were 75 passengers on our special cars at the end of th eregular train, and 50 of us made music. We had concerts each night and jams each afternoon. plus a special concert at either end of the trip (on "land") Charlie also manages train trips on the narrow guage rr in the rocky mts of colorado new mexico and arizona, as well as a musical train trip down into the copper canyon of mexico this movie is a cult classic...www.festivalexpress.com/ Gordon Lightfoot - Canadian Railroad Trilogy- Live http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNwtB3akea8 canadian idol - Canadian Railroad Trilogy as sung and played by 6 youth. |
