Any Mudcatters going to the Toender Festival this year?

If yes, how about we meet at Hagge's for a Guinness or two?

Cheers,

Henrik

Yeeeees! How do I recognise you, Henrik? (It's pretty hard to recognise even your best friends in Hagge's during the Festival!) My favourite place is the Mill anyway.
I'll be awa in Scotland for the next three weeks but I'll trace this track. You can also eMail me at skw@worldmusic.de. Would be nice to meet you and any other Mudcatters. Tonder is more a home from home than a festival! Susanne

Well, I could promise to wear my Mudcat T-Shirt - should
make it possible to recognise me, I hope! We plan to
arrive in Toender Friday at around 18.00, so...either
we could meet briefly at Hagge's around 19.00 Friday
(we're counting on getting tickets for one of the gigs
on Friday evening, so it is a bit tight...) - or we
could meet on Saturday, say, at noon or thereabouts.
How's that?

Cheers

Henrik

Henrik, you are a very refreshing guy. I spent part of last Sunday telling a group of people that Liam's Sister-in-Law and I spent our first wedding anniversary in Tonder in southern Jutland. Tell me about the festival?

All the best,
Dan

Henrik, I've just come back from my holiday. Thanks for your patience. I agree that Friday night might be a bit tight (in every sense), so shall we meet outside the Mill ticket entrance at noon? I'm still hoping to have a ticket for the Singers Afternoon, so it yould be handy. Let me know.
Dan - how long ago was this? 1999 is the 25th anniversary of the Tonder Festival, with a programme full of Scots. For more info - would you mind waiting till I've written my book? :-)) Susanne

This one takes me back! I did some artwork for the festival more than a decade ago - but am more interested in knowing if "The Night Cafe" and "Cafe Cacaos" are still in operation.

Henrik, I'm slightly overweight and usually wearing a blue pullover below small round glasses and short mouse-coloured hair. No, sorry, I think I'LL have to find YOU! See you, Susanne

Henrik, where were you? I waited outside the Mill, chatting to friends in the queue, but no Mudcat t-shirt appeared. I hope you had a good festival.

Dan, I don't have to write one, there actually is a book out on the festival, 160 pages, with loads of pictures and two CDs of 120 min playing time altogether, all festival recordings. The most moving one is from 1990 when the 4000+ audience and the musicians together had as usual closed the festival with the singing of 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken'. But that year people refused to move, and started singing 'We Shall Overcome' at the empty stage. One by one the musicians came back on and joined in, the first being Pete Seeger who that year made his only visit to the festival. It seemed a fitting gesture of respect to his life's work that everybody in the audience knew the song right through.

The book costs 250 Danish crowns - I've no idea what that is in dollars - and I'm sure they do mail order. So if anyone's interested I'll post the address. Sorry about the shameless plug, but it is my favourite musical event!

Hi,Susanne, I well remember that night with Pete Seegar, I was on the stage half pissed singin"The Ol' Circle." song and trying to sing that song about the Wadden Sea. I just could not believe it when the audience started singing on their own and we all marched back on to the stage and pete going to the piano and striking two notes found the key!! There was not a dry eye on that stage that night I can tell you. As Aye,

Phil Jackson.

Hi Phil, nice to know you're with us. Yes, I know who you are though we've never spoken to each other, in spite of sharing a friend in Hamish Imlach. See you next year!

Hey Susanne,

Sorry for not answering before. I was actually at the Mill
- but I didn't spot you. Should we give it another go
this year?
How about Friday 11 am outside Millstream Records?

Henrik

They have a website www.tf.dk, but it doesn't give a schedule. Emma, where are you? Maybe I could send you a photocopy.

Henrik, you never give up, do you? :-) I'll be there again, but maybe just for the Saturday. Any suggestions as to a convenient meeting point? If you happen to know anybody from the band Drones & Bellows they might point us out to each other ...

Squeezy - You're in for a pleasant surprise, it's a great festival.

Susanne - I know _of_ Drones & Bellows, but I don't know anyone in the band. However, I will try to get a spot on "Klubscenen" - preferrably Friday or Saturday, so you could come and listen to me commit public suicide :-). Or we could try to arrange a meeting point somewhere less crowded than Hagge's. I'll post again tomorrow after we get our tickets - then I'll know more about _when_ it could be convenient.

Henrik, have you got your tickets? I`ll take pot luck this time, so how about meeting outside the ticket office Sat, 11am?

Yes, I have got my tickets (incl. Visemøllen Saturday afternoon...). Sat, 11 am at the ticket office might be a bit of a problem - I hope to get my spot on "Klubscenen" either Friday afternoon or: Saturday before noon - and given the usually fierce competition for the spots I have no clue as to when it'll actually be. But what do you have tickets for? Perhaps we could meet outside at one of the venues if we have overlapping scedules. Our schedule is:

T1, FH1, LeM and Se1+2

Henrik

PS. Do you have tickets for LeM? I _might_ have one to spare, although I won't know until tomorrow evening.
