Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Desert Dancer Date: 12 Nov 09 - 10:33 AM That's odd -- I was able to slide the play marker back and forth using the updated RealPlayer... ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 12 Nov 09 - 05:35 AM Are Mac and Wimpy compatible, even if they are equally inedible? |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: GUEST,Jon Dudley Date: 12 Nov 09 - 05:19 AM As a confirmed Mac user (maybe that should be certified) I could only successfully play it by utilising a piece of freeware called Wimpy FLV Player...VLC wouldn't allow me to FF or rewind. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Dave Ruch Date: 11 Nov 09 - 04:08 PM Success! |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Dave Ruch Date: 11 Nov 09 - 03:47 PM Thanks, I'll try it. I always had you figured for a Mac guy, btw.... |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Anglo Date: 11 Nov 09 - 02:15 PM Try this then, Dave. I downloaded the file - it took a while, and came out named John_copper.flv.txt. I removed the .txt suffix, launched Real Player as a stand-alone application, used the Open menu command, and opened it that way. I'm on a Mac btw. G4 tower, OS 10.4.11. Good luck. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Dave Ruch Date: 11 Nov 09 - 11:11 AM Arghhh. Still no luck. I did download the latest edition of RealPlayer (thanks Anglo), and now the video file downloads directly from the Stirrings website to my RealPlayer (progress!), but RealPlayer won't play it and the file doesn't appear to be saved elsewhere on my computer. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: GUEST,Jon Dudley Date: 11 Nov 09 - 09:11 AM Aye laddie! |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Anglo Date: 11 Nov 09 - 03:10 AM Is that you, Dudley? :-) |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: GUEST Date: 11 Nov 09 - 02:11 AM You did indeed Tony and John...visit Bob that is, and he much appreciated it too. It was a truly nightmarish trip to the USA and sadly Bob's last, culminating with being caught in the great New York power cut. Truly the gods conspired to pay us back for all the great times we'd had during the previous ten years of visits. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Anglo Date: 11 Nov 09 - 12:31 AM Hah! Couldn't open the file with Flash Player or Quick Time, or Real Player - but I discovered there was a new version of Real Player and that finally _did_ manage to open the file. (It seems like I'd only just downloaded the last version.) That's a really nice interview. The last time I saw John he was in Brooklyn suffering from gout, I think, and was relatively dischuffed. Bob was in hospital, and Tony & I visited him in his room and sang for him. I think that's the last time the family was over in the US. Sadly I couldn't make the memorial. It's great to see John looking so good. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Desert Dancer Date: 10 Nov 09 - 09:58 PM Worth the wait, though. Save the file (as johnadams says, by Ctrl-click or right-click and select "Save link as...") and open it. Quicktime is my default for most things, but RealPlayer opened this one and it worked fine. ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: DebC Date: 10 Nov 09 - 07:47 PM It's also an 88 MB file. Quite a bit to download, even with Broadband. Debra Cowan |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Dave Ruch Date: 10 Nov 09 - 07:44 PM Same problem. It kicked right to a piece of "free" software on my computer that has since expired, and demanded a credit card before I could view it. Still haven't been able to see it. |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: johnadams Date: 10 Nov 09 - 06:45 PM Hi John, Yes, that happened to me when I first tried. If you control/click on the link (in Safari) you can download the flv file to your desktop and view it with your flash player. It's worth the effort. J |
Subject: RE: John Copper Interview From: Anglo Date: 10 Nov 09 - 05:36 PM I've been unable to see this - all that comes up in my Browser is a text file. It seems to want flash player, which I have the latest version of "installed for all browsers." Mac OSX 10.4.11 with Safari & Firefox. |
Subject: John Copper Interview From: johnadams Date: 10 Nov 09 - 07:16 AM I've just been looking at a video interview with John Copper of the the Coppers of Rottingdean, available on the web at http://www.stirrings.co.uk/CmeetsC/index.html |
