The second meeting of the Ballad Club will be on Wednesday 18th November at 8.00pm at the Burton Street project off Langsett Rd. Come along accompanied or on your own – same applies to your ballads. Great beer, great acoustics and some wonderful versions of these timeless songs.

Good night last night. Some weird and wonderful variants on some well known favourites. A wonderful version of 'Robin Hood's Death' seldom heard but very welcome. Interesting comparisons of English and American 'Broomfield Hill' - why does he want to kill his girlfriend? An amazing rendition of 'Dives and Lazarus' in which the singer sang it to the melody of the morris team elsewhere in the building (not a normal situation) what a star!
Accompaniment was present on several offerings and very welcome too although the unaccompanied stuff was wonderful. All sang and the choruses were pretty top draw too. Rounding off with a beautifully sung 'Well below the Valley' topped another great night. Next one on 16th Dec – notices to follow.
