Subject: RE: Tune Req: Woodys Rag From: Geoff the Duck Date: 13 Nov 09 - 04:47 AM Actually it is pretty easy to do, especially if you are already on Mudcat since Max invented the "blickifier". Near the bottom of every thread, below the box you type into is a link which says Make a link ("blue clicky") . If you click on it you are taken to a page with the following address - http://mudcat.org/blickifier.cfm . In the upper part of the web page are two boxes for typing into :- Link URL: Link text (optional*): The one named Link URL: is where you put the address of the web page you want to link to - Go to the web page you have found and look at the address bar at the top of your browser. Usually if you click once on it the whole address will turn blue (Highlighted). Once it is highlighted, you can copy it - either go to a menu and select Copy, or use the keyboard shortcut (on a PC or Linux - don't know if Mac is the same) press "Control" and then "C" at the same time, which copies the highlighted text so that it can be pasted elsewhere. Once you have copied the web address, go to the "Blickifier" page and paste it into the Link URL: box (Keyboard shortcut for paste is "Control" plus "V". You should now have the web address in the Link box. NEXT- go to the Link text (optional*): box. This is where you put the text you want to show as the link. You could just paste the web address if you want people to see in advance where they will go, or you can include an instruction such as "Click Here!". If you don't put text in this box, the link maker just copies the address box. Next - you click the button that says "Create Link". It then converts your input into a link which starts with a triangular bracket followed by a "href=" and ends with "/a" followed by a triangular bracket. This is your web link which you can highlight (Highlight all the line including the first triangular bracket through to last triangular bracket). Copy the highlighted text paste it into your posting where you want the link to appear. It's a lot easier to do than to explain. Quack! Geoff |
