The violon sabot:

Fit a welly with a rigid rim, add a skin, and you'd have a usable little drum. Can't think of a musical use for stilettos, though.

...gives a whole new meaning to the term "foot percussion".

What's afoot? Good for the meter? Soul Music? Or being a singleton - sole music?

But where can we hear it played?

A rather less folky version:

I don't think Stradivari had much to worry about with competition from the local shoemakers.

Poem 2 of 230: WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN

Once drove an old sedan, up north,
    From a place in Sydney to Cairns;
Then to Kuranda I went forth,
    By train, to look without set plans.

I browsed through the trendy market,
    With fresh fruits of tropical kind;
Walked to the creek through lush thicket -
    Nature's hand giving peace of mind.

I dined in a scenic cafe;
    Then, outside, as I wrote for yen,
Some passing Kooris called-out: "Hey,
    You go walkabout with your pen."

Request or question, I don't know -
    Assured voices, elderly men.
That's now several years ago,
    And I've seen the world - with my pen.

If anyone is unsure of the words to this drivel, there are 31,700 postings on the web with the same words copy pasted ad nauseam
