The Kirkby Fleetham Folk Club, North Yorks UK Christmas party is being held on December 12th this year. Wendy Arrowsmith is the main guest (resident?) and all profits from ticket sales (including the artist's fee) and the grand raffle will be donated to SSAFA and
Wavell Community Junior School, Catterick Garrison.

We have chosen these causes as Wendy has been working with the children from the school on the "Behind the Wire" project sponsored by North Yorkshire Library Service to write a song expressing how it feels to be left at home while a parent is serving abroad. We are hoping that some of the children from the school will join us to sing the song they have created (bring hankies). It is likely that the song will be released also to raise funds for SSAFA and related charities.

There are also many other fine artists who are scheduled to appear: Iain Glover, Joolz Cavell, Richard & Debbie Roe, Rebekah Findlay, Lyn Geddes and WhipStaff (Pete & Jools Thompson). They will be performing a song or two both with Wendy and without! There will also be a singaround after the acts at around 10,30pm.

The fun will start at the usual time of 7.30pm, there will be a licensed bar and tickets cost £5 with your first drink free! Cakes will also be available.

Please come along and support these very worthwhile causes.

Last months Big Birthday Bash was a great success with record attendances at the village hall on Saturday night with some astonishing music from the likes of Mawkin:Causley, Kat Davidson & Dan Walsh and OK Brandy. Other highlights of the weekend included Dr Butler's Hatstand Medicine Band, Anna Shannon, Acoustica and new find Pete Gostelow. You can see some videos from the weekend at
SIMMO7TS. Thanks to all those who came and made the event such a success…... and thanks to Simmo for the videos.

Good idea Spaw...... only we shouldn't need airmail to bring it from Darlington (15 miles), we are blessed with KFC in the UK as well you know!

Did you know our club strapline is that it is "finger pickin' good"?

Just planning the rocking chair, christmas tree and "open" fire for this event.

I'll be trying to persuade Wendy to wear an Arran jumper as well.

Should be just like a Val Doonican Christmas special (to look at anyway).

Anyone know 40 Shades of Green?

All together now...

Val Doonican?. What about a Perry Como Special?!

Please accept this as my Christmas card as I'll be carolling in Lincolnshire on the 12th.

Merry Christmas to you all. Enjoy your mince pies, mulled wine and mistletoe and best wishes for health, happiness and KFFC dates that don't clash in the New Year!.

Deirdre

PS: Watch out for Paddy's Goat ;-)

Pete, I hope you're learning Delaney's donkey for next Saturday. I'm just ironing my cardigan and slippers!

KFFC Charity Christmas Party raised £215 (after costs) for SSAFA and Wavell Junior School (Catterick Garrison) last night. The Club donated bar takings as stock was left from The BBB and accounted for.

Thank you for your generosity. We had a good time as well!!

Thanks to Wendy & all the other performers (Iain Glover,R...ebekah Findlay,Lyn Geddes,Joolz Cavell,Richard & Debbie Roe) for giving your time and talents.
