28th October he's playing at Chichester Folk Club

So not only do you get the wonderful Mr Burland, who is totally brilliant, but you get one of the best "proper" folk clubs in the country. Unconditionally recommended!

Dave is at Whitby and recently accepted an invitation to become Patron of the Sheffield Curmudgeon's Club. (A small select dining club of retired gentlemen who can be pedantic as well).

Dave played the Partick Folk Festival on Friday (1st Dec) to a packed house and was fantastic. As laid back and witty as ever but with a nice edge to one or two of his songs too.. A great night, catch him if you can...you will not be disappointed.

If you can find Daves album ' A Dalesmans Litany ' there isn't a duff track on it, every one a gem.

A long while since this thread was last activated. Emails to the address on his website and another AOL that I had, both bounce back. :-(

I have the idea that he is not in Barnsley any more. So the telephone number won't work. Anyone have any ideas on how to contact him? (Please PM if there is a current email address or phone number)

Thank you

He's still touring in the UK, so a visit is clearly a good idea! He's done some fine recordings, as well - you just need to be a bit careful what you choose. Although he's one of those performers whose sheer charm can't really be captured on a recording.

You can always look out for him as "Partners in Crime" with Sid Kipper (the younger of the Kipper Family, and keeping up their touring work despite his father's retirement from public performing).

Also - for interest - young Kate Rusby, who was mentioned in another recent thread here - cites Dave as a significant influence and source of encouragement, so look out for her, too.

G.

Dave Burland often appeared live on BBC's "Folk on Two"; a wonderful singer (my UK favourite) who plays a good sounding guitar. He seems a genuine, self effacing sort of guy too. I bought some of his deleted LP's: awful with ill chosen contemporary material and poor arrangements with a few gems here and there. When can we hear him at his best again? Dr John
