Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: frogprince Date: 21 Nov 09 - 09:03 PM Sounds real good, Dan, but the lyrics are a little too subtle for me; I can't quite tell what you're getting at. ;^} Dean ; |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,olddude Date: 22 Nov 09 - 12:23 PM Ya Dean, LOL, this song came about because a french blues / Jazz artist who is a friend asked if I could write a "Jelly Roll" old time blues for her CD. So this was my attempt ... not what I normally write for sure LOL GNU I am going online to BMI today and officially change the name of Appalachia to "Gary's Appalachia" About once a week you tell me how much you like it so I am going to name it for you ... I mean it to Dan |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,olddude Date: 22 Nov 09 - 03:59 PM actually Gnu it is now officially called "Owen's Appalachia" :-) Dan |

Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: maeve Date: 23 Nov 09 - 06:45 PM I learn a lot about songwriting from you, Dan. I like that you aren't afraid to try different styles of music. I love your guitar work as well as your singing. So thanks. |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,olddude Date: 23 Nov 09 - 07:31 PM You are most Welcome Maeve, your writing and performance is better than all of us. That is the truth. Amazing is the word. Oh many people emailed me about St. James Infirmary. I learned to pick it from my brother JT and in a million years I could never play it as well as JT (Jayto on mudcat) He taught me how to pick it Dan |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: Donuel Date: 23 Nov 09 - 07:45 PM Dan I have listened to your songs with much enjoyment. If I may offer a note of technical advice, I would use a music producer program to compress the orignal files and then post them with a bit less volume. The amount of echo or digital reverb is fine as is or you might experiment with reverb applied to only certain frequency ranges. |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: Jeri Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:11 PM You want your membership back, just say so. You just keep getting better, Dan. Makes me want to take some guitar lessons. |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,olddude Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:17 PM Donuel thank you so much. I thought the same thing, I have the volume kicked up to high, will fix that for sure. I am using too high a compression for sure. I think I am using way too much reverb also. Gosh I wish I could produce better. I need to work on that more for sure. I listen and I can hear all kinds of things that drive me nuts. Jeri my dear friend thank you! |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: maeve Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:30 PM Dan- Maybe in a hundred years of writing; certainly not now. You gave me a laugh in addition to all of your encouragement. Thanks. maeve |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,olddude Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:43 PM Jeri, Joe please reinstate my account, I was wrong my friends Dan |

Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: Jeri Date: 23 Nov 09 - 08:51 PM Try 'er mow. Dan, take a break if and when you want, but please don't let the bad stuff and the jerks be more important than the good stuff and your friends. Welcome back. |
Subject: RE: New blues song olddude From: GUEST,bankley Date: 23 Nov 09 - 10:05 PM don't worry too much about production.. live and learn as you go it's reproduction that can bend your world a lot... |
