Virginia if you have the file downloaded onto your machine try using VLC Media player (VLC). On the front of it there is an Extended Settings button and one of the tabs is called Synchronisation and you can adjust things in line again by putting an apporpriate value in the "Advance of audio over video" box (either + or -).

I downloaded one of the Transatlantic Sessions that I missed and it's oout of sync by 0.300 secs and VLC sorted it for me. I find it very odd watching out of sync video of music.

Sorry - me not being clear. I meant the Random Access Memory (RAM) which runs the programs, and which is cleared completely on shutdown or restart, i.e. when there's no power on. RAM can get eaten up with continuous use, and the computer runs slower and slower - which is why I restart at least once a day, rather than leave the computer in, say, sleep mode.

I also understand that, at peak times, the broadband providers even out the supply among users in a certain area - which can mean slower speeds overall for everyone.

shouldn't be the memory. I save everything to the desk top pc to which laptop is networked. nothing saved on the laptop except AVG and my outlook.

we tend to have evening time slow down here, probably due to so many residents in the flats going online.

VT - several possible reasons ... laptop memory filling, which a restart can cure ... broadband peak time saturation though BT Broadband is one of the faster providers.

Great picking! And very kind of you to put up those tutorials - not my style and very much beyond my abilities, I fear, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.

Sounds great. I have a DX1 which I am extraordinarily pleased with.

I've started to build a video library of fingerstyle guitar versions of some old "standard" numbers from the '20s and '30s. They're intended as aids to guitar players with some basic chord knowledge who might want to get a little more into the intricacies of picking melodies over chords and bass lines.

The first three are now up on YouTube. Each one consists basically of three or four choruses of the tune, with at least one of the choruses wholly or partially improvised. These choruses are then followed by a single chorus played slowly, with chord names superimposed on the screen.

I'm hoping to build up a fairly large collection of what I consider to be appropriate tunes (i.e. I like 'em!). Anyway, you can see them on the Tube - it's all free - and their locations are:

Let's Call The Whole Thing Off

Basin Street Blues

April Showers

I hope some of you find them useful.
