Subject: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester closes From: Les in Chorlton Date: 26 Nov 09 - 03:16 AM The Beech Inn, Beech Road, Chorlton, Manchester will close on Sunday night but will open again, under new management, after safety checks have been completed. Wednesday will be the second birthday for our Singaround. I can honestly say it has been a joy to wander down to The Beech and hear so much great singing and make so many new friends. I will find another venue for Wednesday to celebrate. We have almost made a year with out beginners Tune Session - "Last Tuesday Tunes at The Beech". The next Session will be 29 December and The Beech should be open again by then. The Chorlton Irish Session had just returned to The Beech with 2 absolutely storming, jam-packed Monday nights. More news as it happens her at Radio Chorlton. Cheers L in C |
Subject: RE: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester close From: Spleen Cringe Date: 26 Nov 09 - 03:32 AM How about the upstairs room at Dulcimer if nothing's on there. Shall I nip in and ask? Or the Lloyds (though we may need to do a whip round for room hire)? |
Subject: RE: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester closes From: Jack Blandiver Date: 26 Nov 09 - 03:39 AM Sorry to hear it; a great pub & a great session. Sorry we haven't been over in a while but it was always in our hearts! Looking forward to developments. Meanwhile, if anyone can come up with a suitable venue for an impromptu Manchester singaround on Saturday.... |
Subject: RE: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester closes From: Les in Chorlton Date: 26 Nov 09 - 05:29 AM Thanks Nigel, upstairs at the Dulcimer is an odd shape - not that that would matter a lot. I suspect we are the wrong type of folk but worth a follow up. We have used upstairs at The Lloyds for more conventional Folk Club nights. It's Ok, a but acoustically dull because of the carpets and probably too big. Sean - thanks for the nice things you have said - I concur - so many excellent singers and tune players - we will carry on and hope to see and hear you both again. As for saturday night - what's this then - sounds most excting Les |

The owners are very keen to get the pub safety checked and reopened. He said it should be relatively easy to get a temporary manager because Chorlton Green is so popular! All music will be welcome. Subject: RE: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester closes From: Jack Blandiver Date: 26 Nov 09 - 11:55 AM Good news, eh? All being well we'll be in Manchester on Saturday - now if anyone fancies a sing & a natter somewhere, might they set it up? A word in the ear of a friendly proprietor! |
Subject: RE: Review: The Beech - Chorlton, Manchester closes From: Les in Chorlton Date: 27 Nov 09 - 09:29 AM With a bit of luck we should be back before Christmas. Liz and I are otherwise engaged Saturday night. Perhaps other mancs are up for a few tunes or songs. Does something happen at The Jolly Angler, near Piccadilly Station Saturday night? L in C |
