Roy McMillan also recorded it as 'Wandering in the Darkness'.

Oh by the way BMI, it is 9.1 cents US dollar per CD, not sales but pressed CD is the going rate. At least that is what they tell me I will get for one of my songs someone is recording.

WHEN YOU GO WALKING AFTER MIDNIGHT
As recorded by Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys on "Can't You Hear the Mountains Calling" (2009)

You'll find souls wandering out in darkness
Whose place in life they'll never find
Wandering so aimless and hopelessly
Whose lives are broken like mine

When you go walking after midnight
Over on the wrong side of town
Walk down any street many lost souls you'll meet
Whose lives are broken like mine

Thank God you've got a home to go to
And a woman's love to keep you warm
You won't find the stars in the honky-tonks and bars
Go home to your woman's loving arms

When you go walking after midnight
Over on the wrong side of town
Walk down any street many lost souls you'll meet
Whose lives are broken like mine

Hi, CaptainC-
Can you post the lyrics so people can be sure we're talking about the same song, and so we have the song for our archives?
I believe Alan Block and Don Hecht wrote the song titled "Walkin' after Midnight" that Patsy Cline popularized and everybody and his brother has recorded - and that isn't the song you're looking for.

BMI.com does have a listing for the song, but I don't know if this link will work - click.
There's not enough room for such a long title, so it's listed as:
WHEN YOU GO WALKING AFTER MIDN (Legal Title)
BMI Work #3850868
Songwriter/Composer Current Affiliation CAE/IPI #
MESSER LANDON NA 41284405
VARNEY LOWELL NA 0

Publishers
JAYMORE MUSIC BMI 63258480

Thanks.

My band wants to distribute a cover recording of the bluegrass song, When You Go Walking After Midnight by Landon Messer and Lowell Varney. We need to find the name and contact information for the publisher so we can pay royalties.

It was recorded by the Stanley Brothers in an album called 16 Years and also apparently called "Won't You be Mine;" re-released as "Can't You Hear the Mountains Calling." The information on this album says: 6. When You Go Walking After Midnight
(Landon Messer and Lowell Varney/Jaymore Music, BMI)

However BMI has no Landon Messer or Lowell Varney listed as a composer. (It has also been recorded more recently by Lonesome River Band and They Wayfaring Strangers.)

Assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and happy holidays, captainc.
