Subject: RE: Tech: D7 Whistles (Merlin) From: Jack Campin Date: 28 Nov 09 - 05:49 PM I once asked Bernard Overton if he could make me a whistle like that, but in A with a little finger low G (for playing Highland pipe tunes). His response was to send me a scrutty little price list for his standard products. So I got a G alto recorder instead. |
Subject: RE: Tech: D7 Whistles (Merlin) From: Leadfingers Date: 28 Nov 09 - 05:04 PM I dont have Huge hands , but I can part cover the bottom of a D whistle to get a note below the Bottom D - Not so easy with a C though |
Subject: Tech: D7 Whistles (Merlin) From: Jack Blandiver Date: 28 Nov 09 - 04:38 PM Came across an interesting beast today - a seven hole whistle called the D7 by Merlin. 6 normal holes with a 7th little-finger hole for a C (C#?). Sounded like shite (certainly for the price - £57) but a nice idea I could get used to on better sounding instrument. Anyone play one? Thoughts? Read all about it HERE One wonders how easy it would be to modify a Generation C to such a thing... |
