Subject: Welcome my friend Nathan Moore From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 30 Nov 09 - 12:31 AM I've never done a thread to welcome a friend to Mudcat, but this seems like a good time to start. Nathan his wife and young toddler live out in Oregon and have a band, The Lowtide Drifters. I met him through Facebook and I thought he'd be a fine addition to Mudcat. He just joined tonight, so I hope you'll see him around. We can use some younger members on here to offset old folks like me and Nathan is out playing the music and writing good songs. Maybe he'll spot this and post a little more about himself. Welcome, Nathan! Jerry |

Subject: RE: Welcome my friend Nathan Moore From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 30 Nov 09 - 09:08 AM Nathan just joined last night. I sent him a message on Facebook this morning that I started this thread. I expect he'll drop by during the day to say hello, but he's three hours behind us over here on the East Coast of the U.S. and a couple of days behind you folks over in England... :-) I also invited him to join us at the kitchen table. I'm laying out our Christmas card and it's an invitation to join us someday at that great kitchen table in the sky. The Welcome table. "I'm going to eat and never get hungry." And not put on a pound, even with all those donuts, Peter. Jerry |
Subject: RE: Welcome my friend Nathan Moore From: Mark Ross Date: 30 Nov 09 - 10:24 AM Nathan took guitar lessons from me for a couple of years. His wife Kate learned the banjo about the same time. I play at the pre-school where he works every week. He'll be a fine addition to the 'Cat. Mark Ross |

Subject: RE: Welcome my friend Nathan Moore From: GUEST Date: 30 Nov 09 - 01:39 PM Hey, thanks for all the friendly greetings folks. As Jerry said, I'm from Eugene, and I discovered his music and the music of other folkies like Art Thieme, Jim Ringer, Mark Ross, and Utah Phillips when I was taking lessons from Mark and taking care of his amazing collection of Folk Legacy Records. I discovered Jerry's album "Get Down Home" and I loved it. I finally got in touch with him over Facebook and I'm honored to have him as a friend. Genie: We live in Eugene, or as we say here, the People's Republic of Eugene. Where are you from? If anyone's interested, check out my band the Low Tide Drifters at www.myspace.com/lowtidedrifters. Ah, a bit of shameless self-promotion never hurt anyone, right? And yes, Mark Ross comes every week to the childcare center where I work and plays the banjo and various other instruments for the kiddos. The refer to him as "the banjo man" and it's a highlight of the week for them--especially when he brings his slide whistle. Okay, I'll talk to ya all soon. |
