BROSNACHADH BHRUIS
Tune: Scots Wha Hae / Hey Tutey Tatey

CHORUS:
'Threun', le Uallas, dh'fhuiling creuchd,
'S le Bruis chaidh dàn' gu àr nan euchd,
Nis iarraibh bàs am blàr nam beum,
No buaidh gu treun 'san t-strìth.

Seo latha 'chruais an uair tha làth'ir,
Feuch feachd fo'n cruaidh air cluan an àir,
A teachd le'n uaill gu buaireas blàir,
A dheanamh tràillean dhìbh.
(CHORUS)

Cò thig do'n t-strì neo-dhìleas, claon?
Cò dheanadh uaigh ach cluan an raoin?
Cò striocadh sios gu dìblidh faoin
Air cùl nan claon-fhear clìth?

Cò 'n càs an rìgh, a rìogh'chd 'sa reachd,
Bheir beum nan geur-lann treun an gleachd,
Gu buaidh am blàr, no bàs 'na bheachd,
An gaisgeach leanadh mi.
(CHORUS)

Ar truaighe 's teinn, ar nainneirt chruaidh,
'Sar sliochd an sàs na'n traillibh truagh',
O'r cuislibh traight' air sgàth ar sluaigh,
Thig saorsa bhuan le sìth.
(CHORUS)

Biodh uaibhrich sleucht' fo'r beuma bàis,
Fear ainneirt dh'eug 'nuair ghèilleas nàmh,
Tha saorsa fhèin a'm beum 'ur làmh,
'Nis buaidh no bàs an t-stri.
(CHORUS)

Time to refresh as Burns Night will be with us soon (25 Jan)

There is a Wikipedia article showing multiple translations of Rabbie Burns' Scots Wae Hae.https://gd.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brosnachadh_Bhruis
It attributes the lyrics posted above to An t-Urramach Aonghas Mac an t-Saoir (Rev. A. MacIntyre)

Uallas is Wallace and Bruis is Bruce

Another minister who translated Scots Wae Hae was An t-Urramach A. MacGillEathain Sinclair. His "Scots Wha Hae." Ann An Gàidhlig was published in the journal Mac-Talla on May 28, 1892

Albannaich a chaill ur fuil
Fo'n laoch Uallas is fo Bhrus,
Fàilt' do shuain ur bàis an-diugh,
No do bhuidhinn strì.
Feuch an latha, seo an uair, Faicibh gnùis a bhlàir fo ghruaim,
Feachd righ Èideard teachd le uaill,
'S geimhlean cruaidhe dhuinn.

Cò bhiodh iudasach sa chath,
Cò 'n uaigh gealtair a bhiodh taisgt',
Cò a bhiodh na thraill fo smachd,
Teich gu grad 's na till.
Co as leth tir aird an fhraoich,
Thàirneas claidheamh treun na saors',
Le 'n fhearr bas na gèill' do h-aon,
Thig do'n raon leam fhèin.

Le gach truaighe fuaight' ri' daors',
Le cuing thruaillidh cloinn ar gaoil,
Dòirteamaid ar fuil na taom,
Ach sàr shaor bidh sinn.
Sgriosaibh na Sr-foirnidh dhan,
Tuitidh aintighearna 's gach nàmh,
Anns gach beum tha saors' an aigh,
Buaidh no bas biodh leinn!

and also by Rapparee in a Mudcat thread called BS: The mither of all BS threads - a categorization it doesn't deserve as it contains lots of lyrics (so not a BS thread imo)

On 16 July, 1892, a translation by an anonymous author from Arisaig was published in Mac-Talla:

"Fheachd Alba, thug le Uallas buaidh,
'S tric fo Bhrus bha 'n cogadh cruaidh,
Fàilte dhuibh gu fois na h-uaigh,
No gu buaidh is sìth.

Seo an latha—an uair seo tha,
Feuch fo'n cruaidh a-nuas mar sgail,
Feachd na h-uaill fo Ionbhar dan,
Dhèanamh thràillean dinn.

Cò na shlaightear, feallta, fuar?
Cò na ghealtair dh'iarradh uaigh?
Cò na thraill fo shail luchd-fuath?
Clis bi bhuam fhir-chlith.

Co as leth a Thìr, sa Coir
Thàirneas stàillinn chruaidh na dhorn?
Buaidh an aird, no bas le glòir!
Lean a dheòin do Righ.

Air ar bruid fo shluagh neo-chaomh,
Air bhur n' al an sas san daors,
Tràighidh sinn ar fuil 's an raon,
Bheir sinn saors' d' ar linn.

Sìos na coimhich bhorb gur bas!
'Streath gun iochd - gach ceann thig bhàin,
Saorsa thig an lorg gach stràic.
Buaidh no- bas ma'n till.

Steaphan MacRisnidh sings Brosnachadh Bhruis. He says he thinks it a good translation. Words are on the screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLt4cXWeGx0
