Subject: BIG Barrow Christmas session From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 05 Dec 09 - 05:47 PM Yes, it's that time of year again, when the weekly Tuesday session at Barrow upon Humber becomes the BIG Barrow Christmas session. This year it's on Tuesday 22nd December, from about 8pm onwards, with what promises to be another BIG one on the 29th December! Those who know us know it's just about the friendliest session around, mostly tunes but some songs as well (Karen & Colin Thompson most of the time!) no leaders, no cliques, no one-sort-of-music-only, just mutual respect and love for the music. It's about five minutes from the south end of the Humber Bridge in North Lincolnshire, pm me if you want directions. Truly a fine occasion, some very good young players will be there, and it is always a great lead into the Christmas festivities. Look forward to seeing plenty of folking folkie folks there. Subject: RE: BIG Barrow Christmas session From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 09 Dec 09 - 05:51 PM An excellent session in the offing, clearly!. Unaccompanied singing is allowed, Guest, and Mr Flowery banjo says, just start hollering out. But if people know the song, you may get harmonies and/or bits of accompaniment. Sometimes they even sound good. Sad you are not coming, Daithi, your trilling whistle and lilting tones are always welcome at Barrow. We'll play a fast set in A minor for you. And for the darned Gedpipes, just because your second name is Pipes... anyway, are you coming, we even allow pipers in!! Talk about democratic! I'm hoping you'll be there banjoflower. Less than a couple of weeks now... Lawrie |

Subject: RE: BIG Barrow Christmas session From: Bloke in the Corner Date: 15 Dec 09 - 01:50 PM Just a week to go, both my children are threatening to be there, so we'll surely be having some good accordion music plus 'found harmonium' on the guitar. But you'll be welcome on the 29th Gerry, as you always are. More about nibbles later Lawrie |
