Subject: Temporary Session changes {uk} From: Mr Happy Date: 06 Dec 09 - 10:10 AM Due to Yuletide & New Year falling on Fridays this year, some seshes have made temporary changes to their monthly frequency. The next sesh at Glan yr Afon, Nr Holywell, N. Wales will be on the 2nd Friday of January, as the first Fri is New Years Day. The sesh at the Dusty Miller, Wrenbury will be on December 24th instead of the last Friday, as this is New Years Eve |
Subject: RE: Temporary Session changes {uk} From: Mo the caller Date: 06 Dec 09 - 06:08 PM Actually New Years Eve is a Thurs, the 'last Fri' session at the Dusty has been brought forward to 18th. For some reason the pub is shut on Dec 25th. |

Subject: RE: Temporary Session changes {uk} From: Mr Happy Date: 14 Dec 09 - 08:34 AM By coincidence, Friday 18th December is also the last day of Hannukah: Zot Hanukkah The last day of Hanukkah is known as Zot Hanukkah, from the verse read on this day in the synagogue (Numbers 7:84, Zot Chanukat Hamizbe'ach, "This was the dedication of the altar"). According to the teachings of Kabbalah and Hasidism, this day is the final "seal" of the High Holiday season of Yom Kippur, and is considered a time to repent out of love for God. In this spirit, many Hasidic Jews wish each other Gmar chatimah tovah ("may you be sealed totally for good"), a traditional greeting for the Yom Kippur season. It is taught in Hasidic and Kabbalistic literature that this day is particularly auspicious for the fulfillment of prayers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannukah#Hanukkah_rituals |
