Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: bubblyrat Date: 10 Dec 09 - 07:05 AM Me too !! Not the washboard, but I am a good Cajon (or Cahon) player, and have recently bought a Schlagwerk "2-in-1" with add-ons ( Heck-stick and Side-kick) and would LOVE to play in a band like that.....something I have wanted to do since watching some very good dancers swinging to the Flatville Aces at the New Forest Arts Centre a few years back ! PS--I live in Oxon/ Bucks area !! |
Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: TonyQ Date: 09 Dec 09 - 05:08 PM Yes I'm quite new to this this site and its intracies. Although brought up with trad jazz/blues/folk, I'm keen to get involved in Cajun/zydeco as a pecussionist/washboard player. My email is tony-q@tiscali.co.uk if anyone knows of an opening. |
Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: Rasener Date: 08 Dec 09 - 03:12 PM Definately short of a washboard player Greg. :-) Couldn't understand a word of the lyrics :-) Sign him up Greg. |
Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: greg stephens Date: 08 Dec 09 - 03:01 PM And here is the Boat Band, looking short of a washboard player |
Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: greg stephens Date: 08 Dec 09 - 02:55 PM Possibly TonyQ is too modest to draw attention to himself: or maybe he hasn't mastered Mudcat's link-maker. Here he (and his band) are playing Oriental Man |
Subject: RE: Cajun bands From: greg stephens Date: 08 Dec 09 - 02:45 PM Near the West Midlands: well there's Rees Wesson over in the Welsh borders(Welshpool way) with Jo le Taxi, and various other outfits. Then there's Greg Stephens and the Boat Band in Stoke(oh,that's me). Then there's Elvis Fontenot and the Sugar Bees(also Stoke). Make cpntact, see what turns up. |
