Since there is a different thread for Steve Earle's song "God Is God" and the discussion already seemed to involve some confusion with Steven Curtis Chapman's song of the same title, I thought I'd post the Chapman song lyrics and chords in a separate thread.

God Is God
(Steven Curtis Chapman)

EADGBE        EADGBE        EADGBE
143121            x799xx           x687xx

And the pain falls like a cu((Bbm)*)rtain
On the things I once called ce(((F)#))rtain
And I have to say the wo((Bbm))rds I fear the mo((G#))st,
I just don't kn(F#)ow.

And the questions without an((Bbm)swers
Come and paralyze the da        (F#)nicer,
So I stand here on the st(Bbm)tage afraid to mo(G#)ve,
Afraid to f(F#)all, oh, but         (C#/F)fall I must
On this tr(E)uth, that my life has been fo(A)rmed from the dust.

Chorus:
(C#)God is God and I am n(Bbm)ot.
I can o(G#)nly see a pa(F#) rt of the pi(E)cture He's pai(B/D#)nting.
(C#)God is God and I am m(Bbm)an,
So I'll ne(G#)ver underst(F)#)and it all,
For o(E)*nly Go(B/D#)d is Go(C#)d

And the sky begins to thunder
And I'm filled with awe and wonder,
‘Till the only burning question that remains
Is "Who am I?"

Can I form a single mountain,
Take the stars in hand and count them?
Can I even take a breath without God giving it to me?
He is first and last, before all that has been,
Beyond all that will pass.

Oh, how gr(A)eat are the riches of His wi(B)sdom and knowledge!
How unse(C#m)archable, for to H(A)im and through (F#m) Him
And from (D5)Him are all th(B5)ins.
So (C#m) let us worship be(F)fore the throne
Of the O(E)ne who is worthy of worship (A)alone.

(Chorus)

The chordie link provides chord diagrams for some of the modified chords.

Note to MudElves:
I misspelled Steven Curtis Chapman's name in the thread title.   If one of you could fix it, this post could be deleted.

Thanks,
Genie

Having the chords inserted into the words like that will make the words hard to find with a search engine. Here are the words without chords:

GOD IS GOD
Steven Curtis Chapman

And the pain falls like a curtain
On the things I once called certain
And I have to say the words I fear the most
I just don't know

And the questions without answers
Come and paralyze the dancer
So I stand here on the stage afraid to move
Afraid to fall, oh, but fall I must
On this truth that my life has been formed from the dust

CHORUS: God is God and I am not
I can only see a part of the picture He's painting
God is God and I am man
So I'll never understand it all
For only God is God

And the sky begins to thunder
And I'm filled with awe and wonder
'Til the only burning question that remains
Is who am I

Can I form a single mountain
Take the stars in hand and count them
Can I even take a breath without God giving it to me
He is first and last before all that has been
Beyond all that will pass

Oh, how great are the riches of His wisdom and knowledge
How unsearchable for to Him and through Him and from Him are all things

So let us worship before the throne
Of the One who is worthy of worship alone
