I heard yesterday that Jan, son of Alan White, has died by his own hand. All of us who know the White family through the Bournemouth/ Poole / Dorset folk scene and their contributions over several decades to the Christchurch, Sidmouth and Wareham festivals - and of course the incomparable Wareham Wail - will want them to know that they are in our thoughts.

A sure sign of the horror we are all feeling at the tragedy striking such good friends of so many of us, is the delay in this news becoming public.
Many of us have lost good friends in the last few years, somehow this feels different. Alan, Nicky and the kids have been part of the scene all our lives so there is a tangible sense of shock at this news.
I hope Alan, Nicky, Sam, Robin, Ginny, can take strength from their extended family. We all love you.
