Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 31 Dec 09 - 04:13 PM Happy New Year, Peter and joanne. Brett is taking a nap. Wakana is helping me set the table and get the last of the dishes prepared. Ham is in the oven. Wine is chilling. I am off to take a shower. SINS |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 31 Dec 09 - 04:11 PM Could have sworn I posted to this before I went to work. Woke up this morning feeling like doggy doo. Went to bed last night feeling like doggie doo. GI distress, headache, general aches, etc. -- same symptoms as my coworkers just got over. Had to go to work (noon-3) or I wouldn't get paid for tomorrow, but decided to avoid sharing this malady with the gathering, we'll stay home. Really wanted to make it, but I'll probably be asleep by 10. And with the weather the way it is (though it wasn't bad driving on the way home heading west), I doubt we'll be howling at the blue moon tonight either. By the way, I got a package from my sister today including an INCREDIBLE Christmas gift -- an original videotape of the Smenge's "The Last Polka"!!!! NOT available on DVD. Wonderful! If I didn't feel so glucky, I'd watch it tonight. Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: adventure Date: 31 Dec 09 - 03:42 PM Have a great New Years Eve and many wishes sent to you for a much more sustainable 2010. Doryman and his mate. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 31 Dec 09 - 03:20 PM There was a rumor a while back that Brett and Wakana were approaching Chez Sinsull. I wonder if she were there or if the door was unlocked. It would be sad if we found them frozen to the door stoop. Ugh! It's been snowing all afternoon up here in Midcoast Maine. The pie looks good. I wonder how it tastes. Geez, the crust looks a little fragile. Oh, damn, a piece just broke off in my hand... Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 30 Dec 09 - 07:22 PM gnu - I have your address and can arrange a variety of unexpected house guets. Behave yourself! Tami - check my PM Susan - letting work get in the way? Ah well. Happy New Year! |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Susan A-R Date: 30 Dec 09 - 07:07 PM Rats!! I at least thought I'd get a blow by blow from Edmund and Charmion on the way home, but I guess not. I'll be playing a gig tomorrow night, and thinking safe travel thoughts for those who are intrepid. Have fun!! |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: ranger1 Date: 30 Dec 09 - 06:52 PM Kathy may join us, but she's a bit fragile these days - she had a massive strep infection in her good eye after an eye shot meant to slow down the progression of her vision loss. She's almost completely (temporarily, we hope) blind in that eye at the moment. She needs lots of cheer... |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: gnu Date: 30 Dec 09 - 06:14 PM SINS has it down. Pack for a week and arrive early. Safety first I always say. |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 30 Dec 09 - 06:03 PM Ack! I work tomorrow until 3 and, since I don't get paid for the hours I would normally be working, but we're closing at 3, I intend to go in a bit early. (Every hour helps...) But that means I don't have any time tomorrow to do anything like pack (well, for an overnight) or, uh, wrap Mary's "gifts"...I think I've procrastinated about as long as I can. I guess I have to wrap them tonight. I'll use the "Don't open til Christmas" paper...;-) We're playing the weather...annoying snow or frigid temps...entirely by ear. I really WANT to be there, but killing ourselves in miserable driving conditions is probably not a great idea. There's too much shhhhstuff in our lives already. Sigh. Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 30 Dec 09 - 05:45 PM South Portland weather says light snow late Thursday, light snow on Friday and a shitload on Saturday and Sunday. Like they know anything. I still remember the dusting last year when I woke up to 14" of snow. Living on the coast is a challenge when it comes to storms. We will play it by ear... |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Jeri Date: 30 Dec 09 - 05:33 PM My Weather Channel 7-day outlook says it's going to start snowing tomorrow and stop on Tuesday. Maybe I should leave now. I hate it when this stupid weather shit happens! Frack winter. |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Fortunato Date: 30 Dec 09 - 11:09 AM Hope the weather is gentle on your festivities. Happy New Year Mainers/NH'rs. We've still got snow on the mountain here in NC, but slightly warmer and just rain for the coming holiday. Sorry you won't have your micca. best, chance |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 30 Dec 09 - 10:53 AM If the driving is bad, all are welcome to crash here. There are plenty of extra beds, sheets, towels, blankets, etc. If you have to cancel at the last minute, it is not a problem. I don't drive on icy roads if I don't have to. Not worth running into someone who doesn't know not to slam on the brakes. |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Jeri Date: 30 Dec 09 - 10:08 AM I'll try to have some left when I get there. The weather here isn't supposed to be so bad, but I checked your neck of the woods and there's a chance if I'm there New Year's Eve, I might not get home until Sunday. Freezing rain. I've only been home for two days! I'll watch what happens, but I really WANT to be there! |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 30 Dec 09 - 08:33 AM Mary- We're still determined to come but we may scuttle back towards home before midnight, which means as driver I may need to pass on the champagne. Saturday's weather looks even worse. Charley Noble, humming "all alone on the frozen ground!" |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Jeri Date: 29 Dec 09 - 11:12 PM I went to the gym and got gas on the way home. I had a lightweight jacket on because it I was warm from working out, and the wind wasn't that bad when I left the gym. I got to the gas station, and the wind was blasting about 60 MPH, my hair flash-froze and the rest of me was trying to. I'll do my best to be there. |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 29 Dec 09 - 08:58 PM The only thing that could keep us home is if the temperature is too frigid. Snow I think we could deal with. Almost didn't make it home tonight -- the door locks in my car were frozen. All of 'em. The passenger side lock didn't want to release my key, either, until I fought with it a bit. Was rescued by a Sears associate from Fitness who had one of those little flame throwers. It worked -- and he didn't melt the lock, either. Whew! Linn |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: ClaireBear Date: 29 Dec 09 - 11:08 AM I will be getting together, in my old hometown of Alameda, CA, with my band and an old bandmate who moved to Washington state years ago but is down for the week. We'll sing a chantey as loud as we can at 9pm (your midnight); any requests? So listen and let's see if you can hear us. I miss you lot and wish I could be there to consume vast quantities of Christmas pud! I make excellent mulled wine. Hugs all 'round, Claire, Maineiac Annexe West |

Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: Micca Date: 28 Dec 09 - 05:37 AM Gnu, ignore the blandishments of Miss Mary, she is trying to lure you into a compromising position with Alice!! who has a number of "habits" (and I do not mean she is a Nunvestite)of a somewhat unsavoury nature!! |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 27 Dec 09 - 07:07 PM With few exceptions, gnu, I snipe, carp and bitch at anyone meddling in my kitchen. You would ne far happier in the living room commiserating with Alice. |

Judy doesn't get out of work until 5 pm, with a 30-minute drive home; and we live an hour away from South Portland. We should be able to make it around 6:30 pm. Save us some leftovers. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: New Years Eve at SINSULL's From: SINSULL Date: 27 Dec 09 - 10:03 AM This year can't leave fast enough. We have lots to celebrate - the Grammy, Maeve and Trulove's escape, my new mortgage, lots of new CDs, a new president, - work with me here. Add to the list. We'll toast a goodbye to those we lost. Please do not spend money on gifts. This year especially there are too many who have nothing. Donate! Donate! Donate! Of course I have one truly crappy gift - it's for Linn and Tom and bought this summer in a moment's weakness. The frog that arrived this week is gift enough from and for all. Sitdown dinner at 6PM. Appetisers. Ham + assorted veggies. Champagne, wine, assorted desserts. Coffee, tea, maybe hot apple cider. And whatever comes in the door. Definites (weather permitting) Linn and Tom (bed) Jeri (bed) Kendall and Jacqui Me (bed) Deborah and Tom Becca Charlie and Judy Brett and Wakana (bed) Tami and Jason Maybes Jim and Maggie Maeve and Trulove - always welcome. (bed?) Micca - I won't believe he is not going to show up until five minutes after midnight. (bed) Table ready for whoever walks in the door. Breakfast for anyone who shows up - bacon, eggs, toast, coffee, tea, sweets. |
