Subject: RE: Lyr/Tune Req: By Blood & Marriage (The Gaping Maw) From: Phil Cooper Date: 13 Nov 14 - 07:44 AM Thought I'd revive this thread. Brighid Malone just sent me a cdr of By Blood and Marriage that they have re-mastered and re-released. The recording also has quite a few bonus tracks that were not on the original cassette. It's interesting that they sold out the first run of the cds. There's also a fan page on facebook for people still interested. I also found a nine minute video of them on youtube. It's amazing that there are still rabid fans out there, when the maws have not performed in such a long time. |

Subject: RE: By Blood and Marriage (The Gaping Maw) From: Phil Cooper Date: 12 Feb 05 - 10:05 AM Always was sorry the Maws didn't get a second recording out. I still see Brighid and Patrick when they have house sessions. Jim makes it out from Galena from time to time. |

Subject: RE: By Blood and Marriage (The Gaping Maw) From: dick greenhaus Date: 09 Nov 96 - 04:40 PM Both Parcel of Rogues and Twa Corbies are in the Digital Tradition Database. I don't speak Gaelic, but if you search for the keyword @Gaelic, you may find some of the others. |
Subject: RE: By Blood and Marriage (The Gaping Maw) From: Alex Date: 09 Nov 96 - 02:23 AM You must be from the Chicago area. GM play very rarely these days as two live in Galena and two in Evanston? I, too, have their album and I can help you with some of the English songs but the gaelic ones are beyond me. Parcel of Rogues is by Robert Burns and may be on DT. The Twa Corbies (two ravens) was collected by Child and should also be there. I'll have to dig out the tape to give you further info. |
