A few months ago when I installed a new system (Mac Snow Leopard), I lost my Mudcat cookie and had to reregister. When I got back on the forum as myself, I discovered I had lost most of my recent (and ancient) archive of personal messages sent and received. I also seem to have lost contact with most of the Muddies with whom I had been communicating regularly via PMs and haven't received any messages from such regular and near regular correspondents such as Old Dude, Reggie Miles, Kat, Spaw, Art Thieme, and so on. It seems to me there must be somewhere another still active personal page of mine to which I have lost access. Can any of the Joes, actual or clone, or Max or someone figure out what has happened to my archives and my current personal page?

Charles

If, in fact, you "reregistered" you might have created a new account different than the one you were using. This would make a new personal page that would only show stuff since it was created.

If, as you should have done, you simply logged back in using your old account credentials, everything from your old account should still be there.

A click on your current name (in your post above) shows posts (158 of them) going back to 2005, so you obviously are logged in now with the same name you used at least that far back. If the 158 posts shown for your current "name" don't look like a complete list, perhaps at some prior time you might have created a different identity, and then gone back to one you used before(?), which would explain missing personal info and PMs since you'll see only what's related to your current "registration and login."

As you guesed, you'll probably need help from someone who can look at the "innards" of the site to find out what's really happened. You can send a PM, or an email, to Joe. Check the FAQ at the "Quick Links" box for how to contact a clone directly.

Of course, maybe you just p***d off everybody and they're not speaking to you any more; but I haven't seen anything much to indicate you've been shunned.

John

I noticed the other day that my archived pms seems a bit bare. I was certain I saved some pms that don't appear to be there any more.

World not going to end but a bit annoying.

Charles, remember your old user name had "bseed" in it? In fact, it was "bseed(charleskratz)" exactly as I just copied that from a PM I received from you last Spring. If you log in under that name, I'll bet it's all just sitting there, waiting for you. Hope that helps and thanks to JohninKS for getting us on the right track.

My dearest Mr. BSeed

We go back a long ways - trust me

In google type in the two terms "Mudcat.org" and "BSeed" you will find yourself circa October 1998

Looking forward to another of your waiting room UPDATEs. They have done me good

Sincerest Blessings.

Your Old Friend,

Gargoyle
