It is not a million miles away from traditional Mongolian music. I have two green plastic flexi disks (45s) of Chinese Folk music. Being unable to read Chinese characters, I asked a Chinese student at an international college what the tunes were called.
As well as the titles, I got a note describing the music as "Mongolian Bluegrass", along with the comment that the music brought tears of homesickness to the eyes of many of her friends- never expecting to hear that music so far from home.
The playing on the tracks is amazing!
