I lost most of my tapes a while back. So nice to find this on YT.

Memories. Harmonium is good.

Oh... Depuis l'Automne (Si On Avait Besoin, 1975)

Great song and music. "Tastey guitar" too.

Maybe a bit too "artsy" for folk here, but still folk in my ears.

How beautiful! Don't know enough French to catch it all, but it is really nice to listen to; I love listening to French. You'd think my Rog would translate but he's just not up with it any more despite speaking it at home and school all of his early life. I guess it's like riding a bike; ya have to practice.

Thanks for the links!

POUR UN INSTANT
paroles: Serge Fiori, Michel Normandeau
musique: Michel Normandeau

Pour un instant, j'ai oublié mon nom
Ça m'a permis enfin d'écrire cette chanson

Pour un instant, j'ai retourné mon miroir
Ça m'a permis enfin de mieux me voir

Sans m'arrêter, j'ai foncé dans le noir
Pris comme un loup qui n'a plus d'espoir

J'ai perdu mon temps à gagner du temps
J'ai besoin de me trouver une histoire à me conter

Pour un instant, j'ai respiré très fort
Ça m'a permis de visiter mon corps

Des inconnus vivent en roi chez moi
Moi qui avais accepté leurs lois

J'ai perdu mon temps à gagner du temps
J'ai besoin de me trouver une histoire à me conter

Pour un instant, j'ai oublié mon nom
Ça m'a permis enfin d'écrire cette chanson

(figure sur l'album Harmonium - Polydor 833 991-2)

Literal translation (you know I never was a poet!)

For a moment, I forgot my name,
It allowed me at last to write this song.

For a moment, I turned my mirror over
It allowed me at last to see myself better.

Without stopping, I dashed in the dark,
Caught like a hopeless wolf.

I lost my time to gain time,
I need to find a story to tell to myself.

For a moment, I breathed hard
It allowed me to visit my body,

Strangers live in my home as kings,
Even though I'd accepted their laws.

I lost my time to gain time,
I need to find a story to tell to myself.

For a moment, I forgot my name,
It allowed me to write this song at last.
