Subject: Looking for banjo repair near Harrisburg From: wendyg Date: 04 Jan 10 - 10:43 AM There's a tiny crack developed in the nut of my number two banjo that is having very weird effects on the tuning. Can someone recommend the nearest place to Harrisburg PA that I could get it fixed? I hesitate to just consult the yellow pages for a good five-string banjo (it's a converted Orpheum #1). Much obliged. wg |

Subject: RE: Looking for banjo repair near Harrisburg From: Susan of DT Date: 05 Jan 10 - 06:21 AM There is a luthier in Bucks County at an instrument store who did some work on a guitar of Dick's - I'll ask him for details. Also Sunhearth Dulcimers in Roaring Springs PA on route 220 due west of Harrisburg - they make several instruments - I don't know if they work on banjos. |
Subject: RE: Looking for banjo repair near Harrisburg From: wysiwyg Date: 05 Jan 10 - 06:54 AM There's a very good shop several hours north. Yale's, in Sayre: http://www.yalesmusic.com/ Good guys who also play/lead bluegrass bands, have done many great repairs for us. I sometimes travel from up here to H'burg. PM if interested in ferrying/facilitating repair. ~Susan |
Subject: RE: Looking for banjo repair near Harrisburg From: wendyg Date: 05 Jan 10 - 10:22 AM Thanks, all. There are apparently a couple of guitar repair places worth trying fairly close to where I am - what's needed is a new nut. If that doesn't work out, Susan, I may take you up on that, thanks! wg |
Subject: RE: Looking for banjo repair near Harrisburg From: wendyg Date: 05 Jan 10 - 06:02 PM It looks like I've found somewhere local, after a tip from a banjo player in DC - the owner/repair guy is a buddy of Garnet Rogers, so how bad can he be, right? :) wg |
