Excellent stuff folks, but I'd better stop because I'll still be listening tomorrow morning.

Check out the master himself. I'd give a few fivers to have been in the studio....

Many more Scottish rare tunes on the way in 2010.

Thanks for the link, kat. That sounds like ragtime to me.

"shameless music that'll grab your son, your daughter..."   ??

Thanks for the link! I was just listening to some Mississippi John Hurt songs from many years ago. Great stuff!

For me it was Beniamo Gigli and Richard Tauber while I ate my breakfast. Thanks Bill.

Listen to the Hunky Dory Banjo Solo by Vince L. Hoffman, from a cylinder recorded 1900!

Thanks for these leads. The first one I came upon had this note:

"Notes
Jimmy Rodgers: The Singing Bra"

I was almost afraid to open it, least the porno police attack my computer.

John

Cripes, BillD & Jack! I will never get away from the computer, now, AND, I will get nothing done! Just listening to some gaelic recordings. Next, I've got a bunch of French stuff to listen to, thanks to Leadfingers.

ahhh...thank you, Jack...I think. Scottish tunse and songs are my weakness, and I can't figure out how to stay up all night or get a 48 hour day. But I shall explore...(already discovered 3 nice versions of "Barnyards of Delgaty"..Davy Stewart is amazing.)

Google searches can lead you to the most fascinating places. I was looking for "The Blackball Ferry Line", by Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters....
found it here, along with hundreds of old recordings from blues, to string band, to Italian opera.
Yes, there is more stuff, one directory up from '78s', but I didn't dare go looking tonight.
(you 'may' have to actually download each one to hear it....I couldn't get them to just play with one click... and there are sometimes several formats to choose from.)

Have fun.....(don't get lost, now.)
