Subject: canalboat tragedy
From: GUEST

Does anyone know the song about people dying on a canalboat ? It's set in a severe British winter when a boat was frozen in on a canal journey, and the crew ask a local farmer for help, but are refused. Friends/family of the victims later take revenge on the farmer, & the song finishes something like " so we stole his chicks and burned his ricks in Beechy's memory " The incident happened around Christmas time, as there's a reference to "starving in the midst of plenty" I have Googled without success, any help much appreciated.

Hi Guest,
I think you'll find the song you want here on my Songs of the Inland Waterways web-site.
