Subject: canalboat tragedy From: GUEST Date: 09 Jan 10 - 06:55 AM Does anyone know the song about people dying on a canalboat ? It's set in a severe British winter when a boat was frozen in on a canal journey, and the crew ask a local farmer for help, but are refused. Friends/family of the victims later take revenge on the farmer, & the song finishes something like " so we stole his chicks and burned his ricks in Beechy's memory " The incident happened around Christmas time, as there's a reference to "starving in the midst of plenty" I have Googled without success, any help much appreciated. |
