Subject: RE: Moonlight Party (The Beau-Marks) From: john f weldon Date: 10 Jan 10 - 08:34 PM I still have, and was playing (and often listen too) , the Vinyl LP last night. Four guys in plaid jackets in front of a fighter jet. I still can't get all the words in Moonlight Party, but it's raunchy stuff for 58... ...a fight breaks out at a dance, baseball bats swing & everyone still keeps dancing for another 3 hours. Sure it's Cats, Dogs & Chickens, but... .. The vocal; with distinct Montreal Franglais accent is amazing. My guess at the words: At a Moonlight Party... ....About Half Past One... ...the Cats and the Chickens... were havin fun.... ...When the Dogs burst in, Drive out the Cats... ...started swingin baseball bats... ...Chickens come, rap em on the head, Knock em Crazy... (next line SVP) Chor: Everybody stop! Y'know yr supposed to rock. Now everybody stop on the spot, or I'm gonna call a cop. Everybody stop! Yknow what the doctor said! If you dont stop, when the mornin come, well I guess you'll all be dead! Somebody went home at half past four, but the rest were swinging, rockin on the floor Call for the doctor said, If you don't stop well you'll all be dead! Any better guesses at the words?? To me, this is poetry of the highest order. |
Subject: RE: Moonlight Party (The Beau-Marks) From: GUEST,999 Date: 10 Jan 10 - 06:58 PM "The Beau-Marks comprised Joey Frechette (pianist), Ray Hutchinson (guitarist), Michel (Mike) Robitaille (bass guitarist), and Gilles Tailleur (drummer). The group differed substantially from earlier Canadian male pop acts (vocal ensembles The Crew-Cuts, The Diamonds and The Four Lads), in that the Beau-Marks were a rock band and wrote most of their own material." And they dressed with claaaaasssssss. I haven't thought of these guys in years. Thanks, John. |
