Subject: Oh, no! Llantrisant Folk Club cancelled! From: Mick Tems Date: 12 Jan 10 - 10:46 PM Because of the heavy snow, Llantrisant Folk Club is cancelled for tomorrow (Wednesday). Zoox were considering cancelling because they are travelling with a baby, and Her Dameship has reluctantly called the whole show off. (She trudged through the snow last Wednesday to keep the Club open, and no-one turned up!) I'm emigrating to The Canaries... |
Subject: RE: Oh, no! Llantrisant Folk Club cancelled! From: Mick Tems Date: 13 Jan 10 - 04:10 AM If anyone is disappointed by the Zoox/Llantrisant FC cancellation, Dame Pattie will be booking them again - so no worries. About last Wednesday's disruption: The Club had been looking forward to a revived Llantwit Major Mummers' Play, aka The Father Christmas Gang, who were stranded in the snow and ice. The Play died out in the 1950s but has now been revived, after researcher Steve Hyde contacted one of the original mummers, Desmond Johnson, who is now in his eighties and who played Father Christmas. I really want to see the Llantwit Major play and am looking forward to hearing it. |

Subject: RE: Oh, no! Llantrisant Folk Club cancelled! From: Mick Tems Date: 13 Jan 10 - 07:41 AM The Danes have a joke, at the expense of their larger Swedish neighbours: Why do seagulls fly upside down in Sweden? Because there's nothing worth shitting on! |
