Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From the highlands and western islands From: quokka Date: 17 Jan 10 - 07:03 PM It's not a version of "This Land Is Your Land", is it? Barleycorn have one which includes the line 'From the northern highlands, to the western islands, This land was made for you and me' |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From the highlands and western islands From: GUEST,obbijohn Date: 17 Jan 10 - 09:38 AM Sorry, no more info. I made the post at the request of a folk singer from Northern Ireland that I recently met. He emailed that " a friend has asked me to trace an old song; He doesn't know; name, air, origin or tempo. but he gave me some words;" - and contacted me because it sound Scottish (I am based in Stirlingshire). I think I'll have to admit defeat. Thanks for your interest. Regards John |

Subject: Lyr Req: From the highlands and western islands From: GUEST,obbijohn Date: 13 Jan 10 - 02:49 PM I've been asked to find the song from which these (partly recalled) part lyrics come - with no success. Any help, please, would be appreciated. "From the highlands and the western islands ......(missing line........ Darkness is falling the piper is calling The memory lingers where ever I roam". Sounds Scottish, but.... Regtards John |
