"Cross of Flowers: Standard tuning, key of G

*Mayfly: Modified open G tuning, partial capo IV, key of B (The capo at IV covers only the five highest strings, leaving the bass note open and tuned to a low B octave with the A string)"

I cannot find chords. However, try asking at

CROSS OF FLOWERS
(written and performed by Jerry Foucault)

There's a cross of flowers at the roadside
Where some fool bought it two years back
There's an orchard gone to hell
Beside a burned out one room shack
There's a thousand sparrows falling
In a thousand shades of black
I'm coming home

There's a steeple on the skyline
Like a single iron nail
There's a windmill doing nothing
And a low moan on the rails
Where the coal train takes the corner
And the light begins to fail
I'm coming home
I'm coming home

There's a red barn in the half light
And a white frost on the shade
And in the bars down off the main drag
They're drinking down what they got paid
And I wonder in all my leaving
If I ever could have stayed
I'm coming home

There's a junked out car in the tall grass
It ain't ever gonna sell
And Jimmy's raising daughters
And Jack's out raising hell
And I always said I loved you
I never said I loved you well
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
I'm coming home

I've only heard a couple of his songs (Ghost Repeater and Northbound 35) and read the lyrics to a couple more. Love his writing.

From NB 35:
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion
What's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall

Still need chords.
Here's the song on YouTube.

Almost every day, I drive by a spot where, apparently, somebody was killed in a traffic accident. I don't know who it was who died, but there has been a cross there for a number of years, always with fresh and changing decorations. I don't know who the person was, but I remember him or her every time I drive past. I'm moved by the love of those who keep that little shrine fresh.

There's a cross on route 4, not too many miles from me. On the day I first saw the house I now own, my real estate agent was almost an hour late. When she arrived, she told of seeing an accident happen, and stopping to help. Apparently, some guy crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a vehicle with a woman and her son. My agent called 911 and let the child sit in her car, and when the ambulance and police arrived, she continued to sit with the woman's young son. She was shaking for a long time after she finally got here.

The child wasn't physically hurt, but his mom didn't make it, and I'm pretty sure that's who that cross is for. I never saw them around here, but now I see them all the time.
