JIM CAUSLEY - ELLE OSBORNE – JEN DOYLE & JOE FOWLER

Friday 5th Feb. DHFC (next to Sainsbury's), Edgar Kail Way (off Dog Kennel Hill), SE22 8BD. Door 7PM.

Spiral Earth award nominee Jim Causley returns to the Goose Is Out. Support from trad duo Jen Doyle and Joe Fowler, and solo fiddler and singer Elle Osborne.

Jim Causley has become renowned for his warm, rich and mature singing voice; (quoted as being akin to the fruitiest of real ales) his natural gift for interpreting traditional song and his wry and cheeky stage presence.

Most recently Jim has been working as a duo with long-time collaborator James Dumbelton (of Waulk Elektrik fame) and performing with Essex instrumental quartet, Mawkin as Mawkin:Causley.

Jim truly shines as a solo singer. And now we have the chance to prove it to our lovely Goose audiences!

Elle Osborne was born on the North Sea coast of Lincolnshire where she taught herself to sing and play the fiddle,(with encouragement from Barry Dransfield.)

Elle's debut CD, Testimony, featured in the fRoots Best of Year Critics' Poll, and was reviewed by Colin Irwin "…One of the most compelling performances of the year

"Elle Osborne is the future of the tradition" - Auckland Folk Festival.

"Raw and compelling, passionate and engaging" - Time Out

Jen Doyle and Joe Fowler moved to Dulwich from Fremantle in Western Australia three months ago - and how lucky for us, as you will know if you have seen them upstairs at the Mag!

Jen plays traditional fiddle and met Nigel Kennedy once, who signed her violin with a permanent marker pen (ruining it). Joe Fowler sings simple songs and learned a lot about music from flute player Brian Warren who said '.. It's like you're trying to break an egg with a sledge hammer', after a performance. Nice!

Tonight they will be playing traditional songs and tunes from England, Ireland and Australia. If you didn't see them at the Mag, you're in for a treat!

DHFC has mixture of sofa and row seats, but we would advise getting down early if you want to get yourself a seat.
