Subject: Reading UK Thirdsday Blues From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 22 Jan 10 - 08:57 AM No, NOT one of my typos, the title refers to the third Thursday in the month sessions at 21 South Street, Reading. I seem to have dropped off the Reading Arts mailing list and only picked up on these sessions again through monitoring Sonny Black's gigs (QV). 18th Feb US fingerstyle guitarist Duck Baker now a local resident, and 18th March Ragtime Jug Orchestra:"Audience participation is always encouraged- bring a kazoo,jug or shaker and join in". Shakers and kazoos provided and encouraged ( I took my own kazoo, natch!). Next month (15 April) Jagz Tuesday night house band Blues is Truth will be there launching their new CD Today's Special with the UK Jazz Radio Stars. May 20th Fran McGillvray Trio June 17th (Damn, I'll be in Greece!) August: another acoustic session curated (as they say!) by slide guitarist Garry Smith. September Chris Jagger acoustic trio. October (be still my beating heart) Catfish Keith from the US. November 21st local favourite Dave Raphael Band and December, my favourite blues drummer (well, most peoples' as well!),Sam Kelly Blues Band. RtS |
